The Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, rejects and condemns the new criminal attack against Syria by the Western powers led by the governments of the United States, France and the United Kingdom. The bombing of the Syrian Arab Republic is nothing more than a sign of the arrogance of those who refuse to accept, in the eyes of world public opinion, their defeat in the terrorist war that they promoted and financed in Syria as part of their strategy to control the Middle East.

Their arrogance is such that, under any unfounded or invented argument, they are capable of attacking and bombing, trampling on all norms of international coexistence agreed and established in International Law. This way, once again, they assault and insult all of mankind, making very clear, and here, perhaps is the most serious part of this attack, that they are capable of committing any barbaric atrocity even though they know that their hegemony is in sharp decline.

The People of the world reject the genocidal violence that the Western powers have historically exercised in their desire for dispossession and domination. Despite the cynical global media campaign, which tries to justify the unjustifiable, more and more People and leaders of the world are condemning the attacks and other forms of aggression as well, such as economic sanctions, financial and commercial blockades aimed at countries that decide to be sovereign and independent.

Since the beginning of the war against Syria around 400,000 people have died, more than 5 million human beings have been displaced from their homes, and another 4 million more are refugees outside the borders of their country of origin, living in sub human conditions in camps that do not meet the minimum sanitary conditions for survival.

The responsibility of the human catastrophe suffered by the Syrian people, of crimes against humanity; of this immense human suffering, falls directly on the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom and France, together with other complicit countries.

From the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, we make an urgent call to Latin American governments to give a clear position and speak out in rejection of this flagrant violation of Human Rights and International Law.

In the face of criminal acts of this category, silence or omission is complicity and cowardice.

We also call on the Social Movements and the Peoples of the world to help raise our united voice, and mobilize ourselves in active solidarity against any action that hurts human dignity so that we act in unison against any threat that endangers the survival of humanity.
